"Celebrate" Veterans Day with Walmart and Folgers

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of The Folger Coffee Company. The opinions and text are all mine.

Veterans Day is an official United States public holiday, observed annually on November 11, that honors military Veterans, that is, persons who served in the United States Armed Forces. Folgers and Walmart has teamed up together to offer a special Veterans Day to all Veterans. (You will read all about it below)

I sat down with my Uncle and we talked about what it was like to be in the Military. He told me all that happened, how it was a difficult time in his life. He saw many things happen and it has impacted his life till this day.

He said he looks forward to each year on Veterans Day to watch the parades, some he has even participated in several years ago. I told him this year we will celebrate Veterans Day together. I told him we will shine that greenlight so everyone can see it!

Veterans Day is commemorated with 15% or 20% off offers. Stores have big sales to celebrate the day. Free shipping or slight reminders to say thanks to those that served our country. Sometimes we forget on certain holiday's the true meaning. I believe Veterans Day is one of them. It is a time to celebrate those who have fought for our country. Wouldn't it be a great idea to spend special time with a Veteran? Take them out to lunch, stop by their home, anything special I am sure they would love.

One of the best ways is for these Veterans to get together, and there are many places to do that. They sit and talk about their experiences and talking is therapy and they are able to relate to each other. One of the best things you can do is go beyond saying thank you for your service.

I have heard and read many articles written by Veterans. Many suffer from PTSD and have been dealing with it for years. Family members of Vets say their husbands will never be the same. Each individual is different and their needs are all different. Many return and are the same and can cope with life. Some Veterans come back and have a hard time finding a job. It becomes difficult because there is not enough support for them as far as living, income etc. Many soldiers come back not knowing what they will do with themselves as far as a job .

Folgers and Walmart's Share a Cup & a Story program encourages people to get together with a Veteran and talk and spend special time together over a cup of Folgers Coffee. I love this idea and I told my Uncle this is what we are going to do on Veterans Day. Talk and have a great cup of coffee.

Folgers has always been his favorite. I couldn't believe it when I read that Walmart shoppers that served in the Armed Forces enjoyed and drank the most cups of Folger coffee.

Walmart to support our wonderful Veterans, has started a program called

Greenlight A Vet is a campaign to establish visible national support for our veterans by changing one light to green.
Green is the color of hope, renewal and well-being. Change one light in your home or outside to show our veterans we are here for them, we support them, we are here to listen.

Celebrate with a Veteran and shine the green light. A beautiful way to celebrate a very special day.

  3. It is really a great opportunity bond with a veteran over a cup of hot and steaming coffee and listen to their fascinating stories. The broads need to be appreciated for launching such innovative and noble campaigns.
